Joseph Warren, the Boston physician and patriot leader, was killed at Bunker Hill in June 1775, and this engraving presents the man the city mourned. J. Norman worked from a portrait Copley painted around 1765, and the print appeared in *The Boston Magazine* in April 1784, nearly nine years after Warren's death. Warren had been commissioned a major general only days before he fell, which made his death a particularly public loss. The print shows how Boston chose to remember him.
