Few posters from the Federal theater Project credit their creators as plainly as this one, which names Don Oscar Becque for the choreography and Donald Pond for the music of *The Young Tramps*. The production belonged to the Dance theater unit of the Federal theater Project, the New York program that employed theater and dance workers during the Depression. Its subject, young men drifting from town to town, reflected the hard times of the 1930s, when many young people were out of work and on the road. The color silkscreen shows the program's bold, eye-catching approach to publicity.
