Few pictures on this board carry a subject as specific as this one, which pairs a golden tree with the Grail legend and the figures of Galahad and Joseph of Arimathea. The print reproduces a mural from the Boston Public Library, where Edwin Austin Abbey's cycle on the quest for the Holy Grail decorates the Delivery Room. Curtis & Cameron issued it in 1902 as part of the Copley Prints, a photographic reproduction series that let people far from Boston own copies of major American decorative painting. Its place in the library's own album of decorations makes it a useful record of how those murals were presented to the public around 1900.
