Fanny Rice, the Broadway and vaudeville comedienne known for her "Baby Mine" and for her ability to play vulgar, knowing characters with a wink, is the subject of this large color lithograph poster from 1898. It was printed by the U.S. Printing Co. of Cincinnati and issued by the Russell-Morgan Print firm, a company that turned out many stage posters for touring shows and theaters in that period. Posters like this one were pasted on walls and hoardings to sell a star's name as much as a show, so the portrait was designed to be recognized at a distance.
