Rockville High School, in the county seat of Rockville, Maryland, is the subject of this negative, dated to about 1936. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial studio that documented the capital region and beyond in the early twentieth century, made the original, and its negatives offer a useful record of local buildings and institutions between the wars. The title comes from the studio's own notes but has not been independently verified, and the negative shows streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of its coating, which are worth keeping in mind when judging fine detail.
