This color poster advertises *Purlie*, a New York stage musical from 1970 that starred Cleavon Little, Melba Moore, and John Heffernan. The show was adapted from Ossie Davis's 1961 comedy *Purlie Victorious*, a farce about a preacher's scheme to claim an inheritance in rural Georgia that also satirizes racism and Black life in the segregated South. The poster's pairing of Little and Moore reflects the leads' prominence in the production, and the print offers a glimpse of how Broadway marketed a Black-cast musical at the start of the 1970s.
