Few crate labels from the Pacific Northwest apple trade carry a brand as short and punchy as CLIFF, and this one was printed for Chelan Falls Orchards in Washington's Chelan Valley. Fruit companies of the early twentieth century used bold, colorful lithographed labels like this to sell their produce on crowded grocery shelves, and the Chelan region, with its irrigated orchards along the Columbia, was known for shipping apples by rail to eastern markets.
