The second annual exhibition of the Sioux City Camera Club is the event this color silkscreen poster announces. It was produced under the Federal Art Project, a New Deal program of the Works Progress Administration that employed artists during the Depression. Silkscreen was an inexpensive method well suited to bold, flat shapes, and the program's poster work used it to advertise exhibitions, concerts, and other community events across the country. A date stamp of March 9, 1939 on the back of this example suggests it was in circulation that spring.
