This poster announces the fourth annual exhibition of the Sioux City Camera Club in 1936, a local amateur event that sets it apart from the theater and concert notices more often associated with the WPA. It was printed in color silkscreen, a process the federal poster units used because it could produce bold, inexpensive runs for public display. The Works Progress Administration, created in 1935, employed artists on relief, and its Federal Art Project sponsored work like this one to promote community arts during the Depression. A stamp on the back, dated April 1941, shows that the sheet stayed in circulation long after the show closed.
