This color poster sets itself apart by naming a single player, H.G. Laskey, rather than the Princeton team as a whole. It dates to about 1902 and was copyrighted by J.F. Murphy, a Boston publisher who issued many colorful sporting prints in the early 1900s. Football was then a fast-growing college pastime, and Princeton was one of its strongest programs, so posters like this one reached fans and promoted the school's teams. Its bold color and portrait-style presentation reflect the commercial lithography of the period.
