Mattison Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey, is the setting for this 1931 ink drawing of the Savoy theater and the Kinmonth Building, which stood near the railroad station. Asbury Park was a seaside resort on the Jersey Shore, and its theaters drew crowds from the boardwalk and rail lines during the years when movie houses were becoming the center of town entertainment. Because the drawing is an architectural rendering rather than a photograph, it shows the building as its designers intended it, with the lines, proportions, and street-level details that a finished photograph might not capture.
