Al Jolson's name and the words "Supreme Triumph" headline this 1928 Warner Brothers lithograph promoting *The Jazz Singer*. The 1927 film was a landmark in sound pictures, with synchronized singing and speaking sequences that showed audiences what talkies could offer. The image appeared in *Motion Picture News* in January 1928, a trade magazine where studios advertised to theater owners. Its catalog tags also list "African Americans--Caricatures," a reminder that Jolson's performance drew on blackface minstrel traditions that modern viewers find troubling.
