Two small vignettes of Native hunting flank this engraved bird's-eye view of Boston, placing scenes of the surrounding woods beside a town crowded along its waterfront. J. Turner engraved the plate, and a closely related version, with the lower left hunting scene, appeared in the American Magazine in August 1745. In the 1740s Boston was one of the busiest seaports in British North America, so the piers and wharves that the view emphasizes reflect the city's commercial life. The record dates the print only to the 1740s, so its exact year of production is uncertain.
