The Wright brothers, Wilbur and Orville, are the subject of this view from the International Aviation Tournament at Belmont Park on Long Island, New York, held in October 1910. The meet drew pilots and spectators from Europe and across America to a racetrack that was then the setting for one of the country's first large public airplane gatherings. The Wrights had made the first sustained powered flights at Kitty Hawk in 1903, and by 1910 aviation was shifting from experiment to public spectacle. The record's date is unverified, so the November 1910 entry should be read with that in mind.
