Discovered at last" heads this poster for Day and Night Tobacco, a color lithograph the record describes as eight sheets joined together, about 281 by 197 centimeters. The Strobridge Lithographing Company of Cincinnati and New York printed it around 1897, and the firm was one of the largest American makers of advertising posters of that era. Large multi-sheet posters like this were designed to be seen from across a street or a railway platform. The gallery files it under balloons, a subject that drew wide interest in popular imagery of the late 1890s.
