Among the Bain News Service pictures, this one is identified only by the single word "Lazzari," taken from caption cards that the agency wrote for its negatives. The Library of Congress notes that the title is unverified and the record gives no date. The picture survives as a glass negative, a format the agency used heavily in the early 1900s. George Grantham Bain founded the service in New York around 1899 to supply news photographs of current events, public figures and city life, so treat the name as a lead for research rather than a settled identification.
