Dated April 14, 1924, this glass negative shows a woman identified as Madam Kawamura posing with her children. The title comes from information the National Photo Company recorded on the negative or its sleeve, and it has not been independently verified. The company, based in Washington, D.C., produced a large body of portraits and street and event views from the 1910s through the 1930s. Glass negatives of this period often develop streaks and blemishes as their original coatings deteriorate, so some marks on this plate reflect age rather than the scene itself.
