Titled *After the mob had passed*, this photograph documents the aftermath of the 1921 attack on the Greenwood district of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a prosperous Black neighborhood often called "Black Wall Street." The violence, which erupted on May 31 and continued into June 1, left homes and businesses destroyed, and the catalog subjects of race riots and vandalism reflect what the image shows. The print was made by the Alvin C. Krupnick Co. and belongs to the visual materials in the records of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, which worked to document the events and press for accountability in their wake.
