This view centers on the Lindbergh family home in Hopewell, New Jersey, the setting for the kidnapping of the couple's infant son in the early hours of March 2, 1932. The house, known as Highfields, sat on a rural estate, and its second-floor nursery window became the focus of a national search. The case drew enormous press attention and led Congress to make kidnapping a federal crime, a change that still shapes how such cases are handled. The house and its surroundings remain a useful record of the place where the crime occurred.
