Named for the Munich weekly *Jugend*, which gave its name to the German strand of Art Nouveau, this 1898 color lithograph by Angelo Jank was made to promote the magazine. Jank, born in 1868, was one of the illustrators associated with the journal in its early years, when its bold flat shapes and sinuous lines helped define Jugendstil. The details here come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified, so the exact design and printing history should be checked before they are relied on.
