The March-Davis Admirals poster stands out for its sheer scale, a tall, narrow sheet built to catch the eye on a street wall or shop window. It dates from about 1897, when the safety bicycle had turned cycling into a popular pastime for men and women alike. Strobridge & Co., a commercial lithography firm working in Cincinnati and New York, printed it as a chromolithograph, using multiple color stones or plates to produce the bold hues typical of 1890s advertising. The date and printing details come from an older caption card and have not been fully verified, so treat them as approximate.
