This glass negative shows the officers of the Cunard liner Carpathia, the ship named in the title. The record gives no date and notes that the title comes from caption data supplied by the Bain News Service, so the identity of the men pictured is not confirmed here. The Carpathia is best known for responding to the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912, when it picked up survivors from the lifeboats. Bain's agency, active in New York in the early twentieth century, supplied many such portraits of ship crews and newsworthy vessels to newspapers.
