The only identifying detail in this record is the name Andy Sheridan, taken from caption cards that the Bain News Service wrote and that the Library of Congress has not verified. The negative is a 5 x 7 inch glass plate, a format the Bain agency used widely for news pictures from the early 1900s through the 1910s and 1920s. George Grantham Bain built his news-photo service in New York, selling pictures of people, events and places to newspapers, so this plate was likely made for quick publication. Without a date or further notes, the exact occasion and the sitter's role remain unknown.
