Few posters of the period put a balloon at the center of a music-hall revue, but this one does. Its title, "Enlevez l'ballon" (roughly "Lift off the balloon"), promises a stage spectacle built around aerial travel. The lithograph advertises the Eden-Concert and credits the revue to MM. Hermil and Numès, with new music by Tar-Caen and Ch. Levy. Dated 1884, it reflects the years when ballooning and early airships captured the French public's imagination. It belongs to the Tissandier collection, named for the aeronaut and writer Gaston Tissandier.
