Wild Island was one of the best-known water parks in the Reno-Sparks area, and this print captures it in its early 1990s heyday, when the region's summer heat sent families looking for pools and slides. The photograph belongs to the Pyramid Lake Project, a body of work documenting life in and around the Pyramid Lake area of northern Nevada. Its subjects, amusement parks, swimming pools, and children at play, show how the leisure landscape of a desert city grew alongside the wider landscape of the state.
