A wartime anti-aircraft unit is pictured in a dugout position, with its guns set low for cover. The photoprint comes from Instituto LUCE, the Italian state film and photography agency under the Fascist government, whose wartime pictures were meant to show the armed forces in a favorable light. The catalog tags also list bicycles and motorcycles, which hint at the mobile transport that supported such units. The record dates the picture to about 1940 to 1942, a period when Italy was newly at war, though the caption details are only partly verified.
