Titled "Fruits of the seasons," this print belongs to the fruit-and-plenty theme that Currier & Ives returned to often. Published in New York around 1870, it is listed as number 2378 in *Currier & Ives: A catalog Raisonné*, compiled by Gale Research and issued in Detroit in the early 1980s. The firm sold inexpensive color lithographs to a broad American public, and still lifes of fruit were popular choices for parlors and dining rooms of the period. Prints like this one show how the firm brought everyday subjects into middle-class homes at a modest price.
