Inside the copper figure, a worker stands on the iron interior stairs to change a light bulb, a small maintenance task that reveals how the statue was lit from within. The record notes Jeannette Griffith as the photoprint's maker, but the caption card gives no date, so the picture's exact year is unknown. Its tracings point to electricity, stairways, and architecture, which together show the statue as a working structure as well as a symbol. The narrow spiral stairs and steel framework that carried visitors and technicians up toward the crown and torch are worth noticing.
