Faneuil Hall's upper meeting room, the one this stereograph shows lined with rows of seats, hosted Boston's town meetings, and orators such as Samuel Adams spoke there against British policy before the Revolution, earning the building the nickname "Cradle of Liberty." Peter Faneuil gave the hall to the town in 1742, and Charles Bulfinch enlarged it in 1806. H.C. White Co. issued this view around 1907, when the building was already a popular stop for visitors.
