Two newsmen posed with a motion picture camera in an Army camp, a rare view of the men who recorded the news rather than the news itself. The record dates the print to about May 24, 1916, a period when U.S. Army forces under General John J. Pershing were pursuing Pancho Villa's forces deep into northern Mexico after Villa's raid on Columbus, New Mexico. Newsreel companies such as Mutual, named on the print, sent cameramen into the field to bring footage of the campaign to American audiences. The caption data is old and unverified, so the exact identities and the camp's location remain open to checking.
