Shown full length and in left profile as he speaks from a railway platform, Theodore Roosevelt appears here in a pose typical of the platform addresses that marked presidential travel in the early 1900s. The stereograph dates to about 1907, late in his second term, when his image circulated widely in print and photography. Underwood & Underwood, the firm that copyrighted the card, sold stereo views like this to households that viewed them through a hand viewer. The exact occasion and place are not confirmed in the older caption data.
