The only identifying detail on this glass negative is its title, "DeLuca," which the Library of Congress lists as unverified data taken from the negative or its caption card, so the name may not match the person or scene shown. The negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, the files of the Bain News Service, a New York photo agency that supplied newspapers with news and feature pictures in the early twentieth century. Glass plates were the standard medium for press photography of that era, and the collection as a whole offers a wide view of American life from about 1900 to 1920.
