*Speak for It*, a chromolithograph printed by Armstrong & Co. of Boston around 1890, pairs a girl with a dog, two subjects that turn up often in genre prints of the period. Color lithographs like this were made in quantity and sold cheaply, which brought sentimental scenes of childhood and pets into ordinary American homes. The copyright notice credits J.C. Davis & Son, and the number 27 suggests the design belonged to a numbered series, though the record says nothing more about its origin.
