This enlargement shows the 1922 Grant Centennial half dollar, a coin that marks the hundredth anniversary of Ulysses S. Grant's birth in 1822, not the 1876 Centennial Exposition that the gallery board's heading suggests. The design features a profile bust of Grant alongside the log cabin associated with his birthplace in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Sculptor Laura Gardin Fraser created the design, and the enlarged photograph lets viewers study the modeling of the portrait and the rendering of the cabin's logs. The record's notes come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified.
