This glass negative shows Roosevelt in a car, and it belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. The record gives no date, and the title comes from notes written by the Bain News Service that have not been verified, so the occasion and the other people present are unknown. The Bain agency, based in New York, supplied news photographs of politicians and public figures to newspapers in the early 1900s, a period when automobiles were shifting from novelty to everyday transport. Glass plates like this one were valued for their sharp detail.
