Two officers stroll together in this print, and the caption identifies one of them as Brig. Gen. Ira C. Eaker, who later led American air forces in Europe. The print belongs to the Ira Clarence Eaker Collection, and its caption card names Lt. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower as the other man, though the record flags those identifications as unverified. Eisenhower held the rank of lieutenant general in 1942 and early 1943, when he commanded Allied forces in Europe and North Africa, so a wartime date fits even though the catalog gives only a broad 1917 to 1947 span.
