The cover of *The Chaplet, a waltz* by Flora shows trees, the subject recorded for this sheet, and it was lithographed by the Philadelphia firm Kennedy & Lucas. R.H. Hobson issued it in Philadelphia, and a second imprint from Pishey Thompson in Washington, D.C., suggests the piece sold beyond its city of origin. Color lithography like this was a common way to sell popular parlor music in the mid-nineteenth century, when families gathered around pianos and bought new pieces by the sheet. The exact publication date is uncertain, so the cover is best placed somewhere between about 1830 and 1880.
