Two men, listed in the title as Robt. Lichtschein and Julius Priseter, are the subjects of this glass negative, though the catalog questions whether the second surname should read Priester. The plate is dated November 28, 1923, and belongs to the National Photo Company collection, a Washington, D.C. studio best known for its street scenes and portraits from the early twentieth century. Herbert A. French gave the collection to the Library of Congress in 1947. The streaks and blemishes visible on the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coatings, so they are worth keeping in mind when judging the image.
