Made for the Chicago Urban League, this silkscreen poster promotes a father-and-son banquet, a community event that set it apart from the government posters of the period. It is attributed to Chicago artist Albert M. Bender and was produced under the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, which used silkscreen printing to publicize civic and social programs during the Depression. The League worked to expand job opportunities and civic inclusion for Black Chicagoans, and events like this one likely aimed to bring families into its orbit. A date stamp on the reverse reads February 16, 1940, which places the poster in the final years of the WPA's poster program.
