This WPA silkscreen poster carries a blunt wartime slogan, "No Water - No Guns," urging Philadelphians not to waste the supply that feeds the city's industry. Its sponsors were the Philadelphia Council of Defense and the Water Bureau, which tied household conservation to the war effort, since factories making munitions depended on steady water for cooling and processing. Artist William Tasker produced it under the Federal Art Project, one of the New Deal programs that employed artists to make public-information posters. The record's date stamp of January 1943 suggests it was still in circulation well after the 1941 date listed on the print.
