This view looks across the grounds from the Capitol toward the Library of Congress, whose Jefferson Building opened in 1897 on the Capitol's east side. The National Photo Company, which worked in Washington from about 1906 to the early 1930s, produced such views of federal buildings and monuments for postcards and souvenirs. The title comes from data the company wrote on the negative, which has not been independently verified. The glass plate shows streaks and blemishes from the deterioration of its original coating.
