A holiday scene of children playing with their dolls gives this stereograph its particular character among the Christmas views on this board. Philadelphia publisher Griffith & Griffith issued it around 1897 as one of its numbered stereo cards, meant to be viewed through a stereoscope at home for a three-dimensional effect. By the 1890s, dolls were a popular Christmas gift for children, and the card captures the domestic, parlor-centered pleasures that made stereoviews a common form of family entertainment.
