A single week of performances in April 1936 is what sets this poster apart: the Federal theater staged *Enchanted April* at the corner of La Cadena and Mt. Vernon Avenues from the 13th through the 18th. The Federal theater Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, put unemployed actors, directors, and stagehands to work during the Depression, and its productions reached audiences in towns far from the major theater centers. The subjects listed for the poster, couples and courtship, point to the play's romantic story. The silkscreen color printing was a method the WPA poster division used to produce inexpensive, eye-catching announcements.
