The title plays on two meanings. A roof tree is the ridgepole, the long beam that crowns a roof's frame, and in this 1928 lithograph Rockwell Kent links that building term to the trees and roof construction named in the record. Kent signed the stone in lithographic crayon, a hand touch that marks the sheet as an original print rather than a reproduction. Kent was an American painter and printmaker known for bold, simplified line work, and his prints of the 1920s show how he looked at both the natural world and the structures people build within it.
