Children rolling dyed eggs across open ground give this 1923 scene a lively, unposed feel among the Easter pictures on this board. The title and April 2 date come from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, and they have not been independently verified. If the date is correct, it falls the day after Easter that year. Egg rolling was a popular spring pastime in American cities, where families gathered on lawns and in parks. The image was printed from a glass negative, so faint streaks and other blemishes from the aging of its original coatings are visible.
