A political concert, published in London on February 18, 1783, stages the end of the American war as a musical performance, with each politician given a vocal part. Miss America, Franklin and Mrs. Britannia are among the named singers, and the cast also includes figures keyed to Fox, Shelburne and others. The timing matters: the Treaty of Paris had not yet been signed, and the British ministry of Lord Shelburne was about to collapse. The print's joke is that the men handling the peace sound more like quarreling performers than a harmonious chorus.
