Tent camps like the one shown here, labeled "Roosevelt Camp," were a common way for visitors to stay in Yellowstone National Park during the 1910s, when lodging inside the park was still limited. The name honors Theodore Roosevelt, who toured the park in 1903 and camped there with the naturalist John Burroughs. The catalog record dates the print to about 1913, a few years after Roosevelt left office, when his visit remained a point of pride for the park and its private operators. The photograph is useful for seeing how these camps were laid out, with canvas tents arranged for guests in a wilderness setting.
