Set apart by its wording alone, this text-only poster speaks directly to the women of Britain and asks them to persuade reluctant men to enlist. It was issued by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, a body formed in 1915 to encourage voluntary enlistment before conscription arrived in 1916. The appeal recasts domestic loyalty as patriotic duty, placing part of the responsibility for recruitment with wives, mothers and sweethearts. Printed by the Romwell Press on the Strand, it is numbered 55 in its series and shows the direct, text-driven style of wartime recruiting posters.
