The corner of Seventh and I Streets Northwest sat in one of downtown Washington's busiest commercial stretches, close to the Center Market that drew shoppers from across the city. The caption card for this print notes street vendors, which suggests sidewalks crowded with people selling goods from carts and stands. The picture belongs to the D.C. Street Survey Collection, a set of early 1900s street views documenting the city's everyday streetscapes. The catalog data comes from an old caption card and has not been fully verified.
