Grand Avenue's downtown business blocks line one side of this view, with the Terminal Building of the Oklahoma Railway Company at the left edge of the frame. The railway operated the city's electric streetcar lines, so its terminal was a busy point where riders transferred and boarded, placing a transit hub at the heart of the commercial district. Oklahoma City had grown quickly since the 1889 land run, and by the late 1910s its streets were filling with shoppers, streetcars and early automobiles. The view, dated between 1915 and 1920, captures that period of rapid urban growth.
